Sandra Bullock is welcoming a new addition to her family.

The Oscar-winning actress, 51, appears on the cover of People Wednesday with her newly-adopted daughter, Laila. She reveals to the magazine that Laila, who is three-and-a-half, is from Louisiana and had been in foster care prior to her adoption.

“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here," Bullock told People. “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time."

In 2010 Bullock adopted her first child, Louis, who is now 5. “Louis spearheaded this whole journey,” she said, referring to the process of bringing Laila into her family. “I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere."

Bullock says she hopes her story can shine a light on the many children who are currently in foster care in the USA. “My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding,” she said. “That’s a family.”

Bullock told USA TODAY in October that her daily routine is already consumed by motherhood.

"That is as sexy as my life goes," she continued. "Seven hundred and twenty hours of my life out of the year spent asking a little person to eat. And it's the best seven hundred and twenty I've ever spent.""I do the same thing every day," she said. "I get my (butt) in the car. I drive (Louis) to school. I do my little workout. I do my work. I do all the things I have to do. I see the people I have to see. I go and pick him up. We come home. I beg him to eat, I beg him to eat, I beg him to eat. 'Please eat your dinner.' "
